As I stand
I am in ceremony
Bleeding
For Earth
Grieving her hurts
Celebrating birth of all living
Listening
Breathing story that heals through speaking
I have grown in a new kind of captivity
A dominated society built largely on fear
Patriarchy has clipped a few feathers from my wings
Attempted to make me dance in a cage of perceptions
That view a linear line is the only way
My wings have been oppressed by a poison that spreads
It is called by the names fear and violence
Its roots run deep
In muds of minds who see indifference
Creating separation of our birth gift to live
In harmony with earths natural rhythms
I have grown
In a new kind of captivity
Attempting to claim life through patenting seed
Manipulating genes of the food we eat
Poison
Fear and violence
Strikes as lightning
Spreads quickly as wildfire
Consuming natural habitats, bodies, and homes of living
Its roots run deep
Tapping earths bounty
This captivity
Resides only outside
Resilience my spine
Strength to break the cage
Mother Earth in mind
Diligence to calm the lake
of rage when I see
disrespect, injustice, starvation
Afflict many
We may encompass chaos of confusion
Hit with poisoned arrows to the core
Shielding grace
We rise shaping as sharpening stone
Guiding inner arrow of strength
